Successfully developing as a healthy school requires an effective network and partnership approach at every level, involving relevant bodies and organisations from the public, community and voluntary sectors.
Through cooperation, networks and partnerships can help to influence policy and practice. They can reinforce the concept of the healthy school by focusing on the importance of the whole school approach in supporting the health of everyone in the school community.
Work within the health promoting school initiative 2002–2006 enhanced and developed a number of networks and partnerships between the education and health sectors which can help and support the development of healthy schools.
Information on these local partnerships may be obtained from personal development/health education advisers at the Curriculum Advisory Support Service (CASS) of the Education and Library Boards or the local Trust Health Promotion Departments/Services.
