| Aim: |
To recommend
to NIPAIG priority areas for action
linked to the following areas:
- To raise awareness
of the benefits of physical activity for older people particularly
in areas of social deprivation.
- To promote
participation in physical activity via Board Facilitators
and via other existing organisations and initiatives.
- To provide
information and training among carers, service providers
and other allied professionals.

The HPA facilitates
this group which is chaired by Frances McCandless, Northern
Ireland Council for Voluntary Action.
The group meets four times a year and is currently tasked with
developing training courses aimed to equip professionals with
the knowledge and skills they need in order to help older people
avoid trips and falls through carefully structured exercise.
