Physical activity research advisory group
Involves: This group involves:-
-Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS)
-Department of Epidemiology, Queen's University of Belfast (QUB)
-Health Promotion Agency (HPA)
-Northern Health and Social Services Board (NHSSB)
-Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA)
-Public Health Consultants, Northern Ireland
-Sports Council for Northern Ireland (SCNI)
-University of Ulster (UU).
Aim: To disseminate current research information through the development of a research database and to identify common strands in physical activity research by continuing to develop a research agenda - to recommend to NIPAIG priority areas for action.
Work: The HPA facilitates this group, which is chaired by Dr John Yarnell, Senior Lecturer in Cardiovascular Epidemiology, Queen's University, Belfast. The group meets four times a year and is currently developing a standard evaluation framework for local physical activity interventions.
