Mission: To make health a top priority for everyone in Northern Ireland.

Since 1994 the HPA has provided part funding for a Sexual Health Information (SHI) service in Northern Ireland. This service is managed by fpa Northern Ireland and aims to provide information on contraception and sexual health to members of the public and health professionals to enable the people of Northern Ireland to make informed choices about contraception and sexual health. The service also enables individuals to access screening and family planning services.

Services provided by SHI include:

• Telephone information referral service (0845 122 8687. Open: Monday–Thursday 9am–5pm, Friday – 9am–4.30pm), personal enquiries from public and professionals;
• Postal information service and other SHI enquiries from public and professionals;
• Publications and resources for members of the public and health professionals;
• A press/media facility on contraceptive and sexual health issues.
