As
a publicly funded organisation, the HPA relies heavily
upon the press and broadcast media as a means of getting
across important health messages to the people of Northern
Ireland and beyond.
The public relations
function plays an important role within the Agency’s overall
communications strategy. A major part of this function
involves the management of the Agency's press office, which
now handles more than
400 media enquiries each year while also proactively seeking opportunities
to generate interest in and raise awareness of the Agency as a reliable
source of information on health.
The public relations
function also involves managing the publicity associated
with any aspect of Agency's work. This can include press
briefings, press conferences, press launches, seminars,
conferences, corporate events and VIP visits, media training
and commissioning photography for new resources and corporate
materials.
If you are a
member of the press or
