Title:
Stopping for me. Women, disadvantage and smoking. |
Published:
HPA, November, 1996, in association with the Women's Resource
Development Agency. |
Description:
This research report
was produced as the result of a joint project undertaken by
the Women's Resource and Development Agency and the Health Promotion
Agency for Northern Ireland. The project involved working with
women in areas of economic and social disadvantage in Belfast
and the greater Belfast area and took place over a two year
period from December 1993 to November 1995. The focus of this
project was on the smoker as a woman, and not the woman as a
smoker. This report aims to highlight the realities of women's
lives and barriers to stopping smoking and to point to effective
methods of supporting them to stop as well as to provide recommendations
of good practice for people working in this field. |
