Description:
This factsheet provides referenced information on diphtheria,
tetanus and whole-cell pertussis (whooping cough) (DTwP)
vaccine.
DTwP is usually given as a single injection with haemophilus
influenzae type b (Hib) vaccine. The vaccine used in primary
immunisations is different from the diphtheria, tetanus
and
acellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccine used as a pre-school booster.
The factsheet describes their effectiveness, safety issues
about
the vaccine and further reading. It also gives detailed information
on diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis infection. Written
in a
question and answer format and with a glossary explaining the
technical medical terms, it is designed to provide concise
yet
comprehensive information on these serious diseases and the
vaccine that protects against them. |
