Description:
This booklet provides
advice about the three main stages involved in helping babies
make the move from milk only to joining in family meals.
It emphasises
that weaning should not begin before four months, and that
some solid foods can be introduced some time between four
and six months. It provides details about the foods and textures
that are appropriate at each stage and what foods to avoid.
The booklet also includes information about suitable drinks
for this age group, guidelines for dealing with fussy eaters,
the use of vitamin supplements and weaning onto a vegetarian
diet. It also includes a handy pull-out guide to weaning.
The information
in this new booklet has been endorsed by the UNICEF/Baby
Friendly Initiative, for use within Trusts that have been
awarded Baby Friendly status.
