This booklet
provides advice about the three main stages involved in helping babies make the move from milk only to joining in family meals.

It emphasises that weaning should not begin before four months, and that some solid foods can be introduced some time between four and six months. It provides details about the foods and textures that are appropriate at each stage and what foods to avoid. The booklet also includes information about suitable drinks for this age group, guidelines for dealing with fussy eaters, the use of vitamin supplements and weaning onto a vegetarian diet. It also includes a handy pull-out guide to weaning.

The information in this new booklet has been endorsed by the UNICEF/Baby Friendly Initiative, for use within Trusts that have been awarded Baby Friendly status.
