In autumn 1999, the HPA, as part of its work on the Food and Nutrition Strategy, commissioned research to obtain information on eating patterns among 5-75 year olds in Northern Ireland. This research document reports on the eating patterns of children and young people aged 5-17 years. Eating habits were assessed by interviewing the parents of the children and young people about the frequency of consumption of a range of foods and about breakfast and lunchtime habits.
