Description:
This leaflet explains about blood tests that are carried out
during the first antenatal visit. The blood tests look
for possible health problems, which if left undetected,
could affect mother or baby. The tests screen a sample
of the mother's blood for the presence of HIV, hepatitis
B, syphilis and rubella and to determine her blood count/haemoglobin
level and her blood group. This leaflet also contains a
consent form, which should be completed by the patient
during this visit. |
