A healthy legacy. 20 years of the Health Promotion Agency for Northern Ireland

Published:
HPA, March 2009

Description:
This document is a record of, and a reflection on, the HPA’s 20 years of activity and contribution to improving health. It gives an overview of the breadth of the HPA’s work over this time and the progress that it has made across a range of public health issues with its partners.

The evidence shows that the HPA has succeeded in raising public awareness of health and health improvement, as well as building capacity, developing skills and improving knowledge among health professionals.

Central to this success has been partnership working at a local, national and international level. Collaboration with many organisations and individuals locally and further afield has enabled the HPA to not only tackle the damage that is caused by a range of health risk factors, but also to develop effective and innovative ways to prevent disease and promote individual and public health.
