Description:
The Annual report
details the breadth of work the HPA
undertakes to help improve
the health of the people of Northern Ireland. It records
our major accomplishments in the areas of alcohol, tobacco,
drugs, nutrition, physical activity, sexual health, mental
and emotional health, breastfeeding, and health protection.
It highlights the ways in which the HPA has worked to meet
objectives within the context of Investing for Health – in
particular the development of the settings approach in the
priority areas of schools, workplaces and hospitals. The
range of local partnerships, cross border links and global
alliances that has helped the HPA achieve its programme of
work is highlighted.
The
report also outlines many of the initiatives, campaigns
and resources which helped to communicate
relevant and timely information on a range of health issues.
The research carried out during the year is detailed and
demonstrates how this has guided much of our work. Training
and professional development opportunities offered by the
HPA to build capacity for health promotion are highlighted.
Also noted is increased recruitment arising from expansion
of major business areas, our corporate training programme
and continued commitment to our Equality Scheme. A guide
to the HPA Board and staff members is also presented along
with the summary financial statements of the accounts for
the year. |
