Title:
Adult drinking patterns in Northern Ireland |
Published:
HPA, December 2002. |
|
Description:
This research
report is based on quantitative research into the drinking
trends of adults in Northern Ireland that was commissioned
by the HPA in 1999. The report is the first major research
into alcohol consumption here since 1990, and it reveals not
only how people drink but also how much they drink. The document
examines how factors such as age, sex, socioeconomic status
and income affect drinking behaviour, as well as looking at
where people drink and with whom they drink.
The research
is supportive of the Government’s Drugs and Alcohol
Strategy implementation model and provides a greater understanding
of the local drinking culture, which will ensure that future
health promotion initiatives on alcohol are appropriately
targeted.
