This is a two year part-time course which is validated
by the University of Ulster. The course consists of six modules,
three of which are studied in each year. Successful students
will be eligible to seek entry to Level 3 (ie final year
modules) of a number of degree programmes at the University
of Ulster. The aims of the Advanced Diploma in Health Promotion
are to provide a coherent programme of study which facilitates
the professional development of students, enabling them
to
apply health promotion theory strategically in their own
practice, and to foster the development of enquiring, socially
aware attitudes.

and practice of health promotion;
- Communication;
- Research
for practice.
Year
2 modules
- Planning
health promotion interventions;
- Health
promotion and public policy;
- Psychology
of health.
Entry requirement
A recognised professional qualification in an area relevant
to health promotion.
Credit points
120 CATS points at Level 2 (60 credits per year).

12 September 2006 – 1 May 2007

Applications are accepted up to the start date of the course.

A certificate in Oral Health Education is also offered to
registered nurses as a post qualification course. Application
can be made through the Dental Nursing Department at Belfast
Institute of Further and Higher Education.
