Background:
In accordance with Section 75 and Schedule 9 of the Northern
Ireland Act 1998, which requires public authorities to send
an Equality Scheme to the Equality
Commission for Northern Ireland, the Health Promotion
Agency has drawn up its Equality Scheme. This outlines how
the Agency intends to carry out its new duties to promote
equality between:
- persons of
different religious belief, political opinion, racial group,
age, marital status or sexual orientation;
- men and women
generally;
- persons with
or without a disability
- persons with
or without dependants.
The Agency is
committed to ensuring that all necessary resources are made
available (in terms of people, time and money) to aid the
effective promotion of equality of opportunity and good relations
in all its policies and practices.
