Equality Scheme

Background:
In accordance with Section 75 and Schedule 9 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, which requires public authorities to send an Equality Scheme to the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland, the Health Promotion Agency has drawn up its Equality Scheme. This outlines how the Agency intends to carry out its new duties to promote equality between:

  • persons of different religious belief, political opinion, racial group, age, marital status or sexual orientation;
  • men and women generally;
  • persons with or without a disability
  • persons with or without dependants.

The Agency is committed to ensuring that all necessary resources are made available (in terms of people, time and money) to aid the effective promotion of equality of opportunity and good relations in all its policies and practices.
